Ghosts of the past….

I bumped into a former manager of mine when walking into a shop this afternoon. I won’t reveal which industry that was from or who it was. I worked for this particular chap about 12 years ago.

It all ended rather acrimoniously and suffice it to say, I wasn’t too disappointed when I left the company. As I often found years ago, companies treated their employees like numbers on a payroll and not human beings with emotions and feelings.

So I walked into this shop and said “Do you remember me, I’m Allen”. He looked straight through me with a stone face and just replied “Hello, Allen” with either a lack of knowledge of who I was or his usual lack of politeness and sincerity. So I completed my business in the shop, let him carry on with what he was doing.

He may not have remembered me, but I certainly remember him, and I certainly remember people who have not been the most kind or decent towards me. I’m glad I’m involved in the mental health world and have met people with more intelligence and insight in their little fingers than he has in him.

And finally, not to put too fine a point on it, he’s an arse. Plain and simple.
