Just moping around the flat this afternoon. Was minding my own business when I heard a great clatter of the letter box. A brown envelope – usually bad news…..
The letter was from the DWP (Department of Work and Pensions) about an assessment they gave me back in June of this year. The assessment was for a benefit I get called PIP (Personal Independence Payment) that I get monthly. I’ve waited eight weeks for a decision to be made….and you know that feeling you get when it may be bad news? Well, my stomach was doing a few cartwheels.
And the decision? I’m very pleased to say that there is no change. No increase in monthly PIP, no decrease. And I got exactly the same number of points as last time, 11, meaning that the conditions I have are more or less the same from two years ago.
These monthly payments will be in place until March 2020. Naturally delighted that though I was put through hoops, the DWP have taken into account the circumstances and ruled no change. And even the assessor didn’t change the story, which is what some of them do. Massive weight off my mind. Has made me feel slightly better today, though I’m still feeling rather drained.
As I keep saying, you never know what’s round that corner….
