1976 in the UK saw the most spectacular summer ever. Months of blue skies, sunshine and heat. Hardly any rain to speak of.
Fast forward 42 years and though we haven’t had the heat, what has characterised this summer so far is the almost drought like conditions, certainly in London where I live. Grounds are becoming cracked and parched, and there isn’t any end in sight to the prolonged dry spell. Not that I’m complaining mind you. I love the summer sunshine and not too stifling heat. Hate that thundery, humid muck we get from time to time.
Just making a historical reference. For 1976, read 2018. Hosepipe bans and wildfires? Not yet. But just wait and see.
