Yes, it’s Mothering Sunday all round this great world. And the name isn’t really connected with those who brought each and everyone of us into the world. Apparently it has to do with the Roman Catholic faith and the fact that churchgoers were assigned “A Mother Church”, their spiritual home in other words.
But through the years it’s been commercialised and made into sending our best wishes to our Mums, a world of difference from the real reason.
My mother died in June 2010, and my father back in July 1991. So, apart from my sister, I don’t have any other close family at all. I still miss my parents each and every day, but as time goes on, the grief is there but a little easier to bear. As I said the other day, death is a certainty to us all. There are times when the emotions bubble to the surface, but on others, the emotions stay dormant. That’s the grieving process.
So to all the mothers out there, A Happy Mother’s Day!
