Evening. Monday night is of course, cricket Umpire training night, and I was in charge of a smaller group of candidates doing a separate course to the main event. The guy who usually runs it was unavailable and it fell to me to blather on for two hours.
And a very enjoyable session it was, full of instruction and common sense from my side reciprocated by good questions and knowledge from the candidates. We got through an awful lot and they’re all nearly finished the course.
Felt relaxed and calm. The only thing annoying me was this cough that won’t go away. So why do I have the occasional bouts of anxiety and panic attacks? Why indeed? It all makes it seem very bizarre and proves that I can do certain things to quite a reasonable level of competence, until the demons speak with forked tongue and ruin everything. Tonight was a rare good experience. Store it in the memory bank when things go wrong in the future.
Easier said than done that last sentence.
