Front of House…

Last night, cricket Umpire training. And I must confess to feeling a little nervous before I set out. Maybe a touch of panic? Perhaps. But that soon evaporated. Once I got to the venue I was ok.

For a change, I set the candidates a little task to do, for two reasons. One to give my voice a rest, and to give them an opportunity to see what things are like from an umpire’s perspective. Despite one or two puzzled faces, the task seemed to have worked out pretty well. Then my colleague took over and my voice, which was a bit hoarse, was further rested, for which I was thankful.

A very good session, really enjoyed it and there was a good atmosphere in the room. Hope to get through the final four weeks unscathed.
